BANYUWANGI, Indonesia – The international sailing expedition "Sail to Indonesia 2025" has arrived in Banyuwangi, with yachts from France, Great Britain, Italy, Denmark, Russia, the Netherlands, and Australia docking at the Banyuwangi International Yacht Club (BIYC) harbor.
The arrival coincided with the grand reopening of the historic Banyuwangi International Yacht Club. After a nine-month hiatus, the club has resumed operations under new management and in partnership with PT Pelindo Property Indonesia, once again opening its doors to yachtsmen, tourists, and local residents.
To mark the occasion, BIYC hosted a welcome reception for the regatta participants. The ceremony was attended by the Regent of Banyuwangi, Mr. Ipuk Fiestiandani Azwar Anas, who emphasized the significance of the event. "The reopening of BIYC is a landmark occasion that heralds a new era for marine tourism and premium leisure in East Java," the Regent stated.
The welcome ceremony featured traditional dance performances organized in honor of the international guests.
The regatta participants were in Banyuwangi from October 4-7, 2025, using the stopover to explore the region's natural and cultural attractions.
This year marks the second time Banyuwangi has served as a port of call for this international marine regatta. The event is part of a series of Indonesian stopovers organized by PT Pelindo. The regatta began in New Zealand with a fleet of 32 yachts that crossed the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, sailed through Australia, and then proceeded to a number of Indonesian marine ports. Before arriving in Banyuwangi, the sailors visited Tual (Moluccas), Labuan Bajo, Lombok, and Bali. Their journey will continue to other popular tourist ports across the archipelago.
The resumption of BIYC's operations was made possible by a change in management and the establishment of a strategic partnership agreement with PT Pelindo Property Indonesia.
